LAGO DI GARDA & MILAN

IMG_2586

No matter what destination you may have, if you pass by Milan you need to have a break at Lago di Garda, the largest lake in the whole Italy. Glaciers formed this alpine region at the end of the last Ice Age. There are many towns and villages on the lake, from which we picked up Sirmione. Located on the south of the lake, is one particularly popular destination. Starting from the 1st century BCE, the area of the Garda, including what is now Sirmione, became a favourite resort for rich families coming from Verona, then the main Roman city in north-eastern Italy. The poet Catullus praised the beauties of the city and spoke of a villa he had in the area.
